Some good moments remembered ...
1. C Boys (4x100m) Kian Chong, Nizam, Samuel, Yong Kai borrowed batons for self-training on Thursday (trainings on Wed & Fri).
2. Zhen Quan & Andy (Lim) drop by to visit (& help) juniors every now & then.
3. Last minute notice about Swift race but C boys formed 2 teams efficiently.
4. Kanessan called up all his team mates to verify information & Kenneth helped; he has all the contact numbers.
5. Lih Sheng says“It's my last race; I want to run.”
How many of you want to run? How many run because the teachers want you to?
Some things should not/cannot be compromised – is it really generation gap?

SPH Relay @ Yio Chu Kang Stadium
Just the other day it's Xcountry @ Bedok Res, today (& tomorrow), the athletes raced again around the area - SPH Relay @ Yio Chu Kang Stadium.
I seem to be the only one keen to snap pictures so it's just these few:

The girls are pretty calm when watching the relays huh?
I seem to be the only one keen to snap pictures so it's just these few:
Corrina's first track event in Secondary & she's the first runner!
C girls not keen in posing for a team pic ...
That's Alvin running in place of Kenneth.
Too far (& fast? both feet off ground) for a clear pic - either that or I used the wrong mode.
Abloy looks better with his hands off his face ~

3. Liang Wee (did not do enough Math and) came down with flu; lucky Yee Seng was ready (not nervous) to run in his place. (Whether he is really ready or not is not the question, he seemed ready.)
4. Someone blocked Chia Yuan; he seemed rather pissed–Chia Yuan pissed? very seldom huh.
5. Numerous attempted to run & hide when the DJ approached; not a good idea - c'mon, he was trying to give out small gifts - be a good sport! (it's the same when teacher asks a question & u looks away ... while thinking–please don't call me.)
The C boys 4 x 400 m
- the only team I managed to coax in taking a team pic
Take 2 - Abloy wasn't too happy with the prev one after previewing. Ryan asked to preview the photos I'd taken & the rest crowded around ... hmmm, don't want to pose for pic but want to see what I'd taken ... ??
---------------------------------------------------------
small hiccups
1. The sky showered blessings just as the C girls race began - First track event for some of the Sec 1s and it rained … again.
2. Alvin stepped on Ryan's shoes; the former fell *ouch - but phew.. minor scratches*; the latter ran off with only ONE spike shoe.

I didn't know until they told me so. Thereafter realised there's a pic to prove - notice his right leg
Might have felt quite cool running with 1 shoe huh?

Cheers for your teammates!
Wan Ping will be receiving her trophy (from Wings) this Friday (the weather will allow her to)!
Some of the Sec 3s will be representing Xcountry on a fine morning in Week 4 after flag rasing... for a short talk/skit/presentation/??? on FRIENDSHIP for IFD - do lend them your support ... & ears!

Studies vs CCA
Numerous races during this peak season and trainings sometimes become thrice a week. Have you forgotten your main business? Student -> Study & score some decent results. Between CCA & study, which is your priority? What is your commitment level? Any support from your parents / peers?
Was wondering about this because of numerous points:
1. Student A had to stay back for self revision because he failed common test.
2. Student B had to leave training earlier because there's tuition for a test tomorrow.
3. Student C asked to be excused from training because he needed time to study for tests / his parents want him home early to revise for test tomorrow.
4. Teacher A commented student D asked to be excused from make-up lesson because there is extra training for race. But make-up lesson is hardly like remedial; the former is to teach new stuff (likely due to lack of time); the latter serves more as recap & revision purpose.
5. Teacher B commented student E sleeps during lessons… (“really sian” or “tired” or “makes no difference whether I listen or not”, etc, etc)
* note:‘commented' is NOT the same as‘complained' =)
6. ...
7. ...
8. ...
The above mentioned are not just a few particular student athletes but quite a big handful.
How many of you are really coping–with BOTH study and CCA? If not, when is the time to do something about it? SOON!
Term 2 is v short & in a month's time (27th Apr), it's MYE! CCA usually ceases 2 weeks prior exams but the National Xcountry this year is late (23rd Apr) - HOW?
How many of you can still commit to the trainings as the dates (23rd, 27th Apr) draw near?
Thinking back (10 years+++), I was always in awe of how those student athletes managed their time; they seem to juggle both studies and CCA (be in Xcountry, Track, Basketball or Volleyball) effortlessly!
Guess it's not easy; either they don't sleep as much (as I do back then) or they got their fairy godma/godpa to help (??)

Anchao/WAC X-Country 2008
12th March - Race in the Rain
FreezinggGg... soaked shoes, socks, shorts, jerseys, towels, tees... all ~ while the wait for the race to start continues...
Count on the seniors to lug bananas all the way there (Those who haven't thank them... you know what to do).
The Sec 1s should have a cool (cold!), good experience running their first race in the rain.
C Boys competition seem stronger than expected.

Good, Average or Poor run - you are your best judge.

14th March - Race in the Sun
warm, WARM , almost hot... a light drizzle would be appreciated huh?
Good, Average or Poor run - you are your best judge.
Injured:
Jin Ming with a bad sprain but ran & completed all the same... (Where's his specs?)
Zhe Ming whose ankle swelled up during warm up...
Numerous down after being in Wed rain...
Lots of stitches & pain in the stomaches which affect many performances...
Result: Wan Ping ran in Second - Congrats!
[Have you update your training logs?]
Look forward to the next race!
